Electronics
Crackling pots. Intermittent output jacks. A pickup that cuts out when you move. These things are annoying, distracting, and completely unnecessary. I diagnose and fix electronic issues on electric guitars, basses, and acoustic instruments with electronics all the time.
Acoustic Guitars
$75-150 for acoustic pickup installation.
Acoustic guitars come with a wide range of electronic options β and they all need proper installation and maintenance to sound their best. Whether your instrument came with electronics from the factory or you're adding amplification for the first time, I can help.
I install, repair, and replace all types of acoustic pickup systems, including:
- Undersaddle transducers β the most common factory-installed type, sitting beneath the bone saddle
- Soundboard transducers (contact pickups) β mounted inside the top for a natural, mic-like tone
- Magnetic soundhole pickups β easy to install and great for feedback-resistant live use
- Internal microphone systems β capturing the true acoustic voice of the instrument
- Dual-source and blended systems β combining two pickup types for maximum tonal flexibility
If you're not sure what pickup system is right for your guitar and playing style, I'm happy to walk you through the options.
Electric Guitars
Typically $150-300 for wiring jobs, pickup swaps, etc.
ποΈ Pots, Switches & Jacks
Volume pots that crackle, toggle switches that cut out, output jacks that lose signal when you move the cable β these are all common and fixable. I track down the source and repair or replace what's needed. Clean, quiet signal is the goal.
π΅ Electromagnetic Pickups
Pickups have an enormous impact on your tone β often more than any other upgrade you can make. I handle:
- Pickup installation β single pickups or full sets, properly height-set from the start
- Pickup swaps β upgrading from stock pickups to aftermarket options
π Rewiring & Mods
Sometimes the whole harness needs to go. I can rewire to factory spec, or wire things up differently if you want a specific control layout or mod. Common rewires include:
- Factory correct wirings for Fender, Gibson, PRS, etc.
- Common Mods & Optionsβ¦
- Coil-tap or coil-split wiring
- Series/parallel switching
- Grease bucket tone circuits
- Treble bleeds
A Note on Partsβ¦
For high-ticket parts like specific pickups or preamp systems, I recommend ordering them yourself and bringing them in β that way you get exactly what you want at the best price. For standard components (pots, caps, switches, jacks), I keep common parts in stock.
